: COMMENTS ON DRAFT SEZ BILL 2004
EPCES
had organized an Open House Meeting with Shri Kamal Nath,
Honourable Commerce & Industry Minister on 5-6-04 at
Hotel Le-Meredien, New Delhi. In this meeting Shri Dipak
Chatterjee, Commerce Secretary, Shri G. K. Pillai, DGFT
and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Shri Jayant
Dasgupta, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Smt. Seema
Bahuguna, Additional DGFT, Shri A. K. Prasad, Director (Customs),
Smt. Nutan Guha Biswas, Development Commissioner, Noida
Special Economic Zone, Shri Yogendra Garg, Development Commissioner,
Kandla Special Economic Zone, Shri Ashok Meena, Deputy Secretary,
Ministry of Commerce, Shri Mohanpyare, Joint Development
Commissioner, Noida Special Economic Zone and other senior
officials were present. This Open House meeting was attended
by over 130 exporters from all over the country. This Open
House meeting was very useful and Honourable Commerce &
Industry Minister has assured that, in the new EXIM Policy
and the Budget, a package will be worked-out for EOUs and
SEZ Units.
Honourable
Commerce & Industry Minister has desired that SEZ Units
should give their comments on the Draft SEZ Bill 2004 immediately.
Accordingly, we have assured the Honourable Minister that
we will solicit the comments for the SEZ Units and submit
the same within one week.

SEZ Bill 2004 is placed on the website www. sezindia.nic.in.
When you open this website, on the right hand side in blue
box, Draft SEZ Bill 2004 is placed. You are requested to
go through this SEZ Bill and send your suggestions/comments
on this Bill immediately, latest by 11th June, 2004 so that
EPCES could compile the same and submit to Honourable Commerce
& Industry Ministry on 12th June, 2004. Your suggestions/
